KU Aerospace Short Courses

In-Person Public Short Courses

Each year, the KU Aerospace Short Course Program offers groups of short courses in-person at select locations in the U.S. Registration for these courses is open to the public. 

Courses range from 1-5 days in length, and are offered in a traditional classroom setting. Participants learn face-to-face from industry experts, enhanced by group discussions and networking opportunities with attendees in all classes held in each location.

In-person course registration fees include all course materials (notebooks, textbooks, etc.) as well as complimentary lunches and refreshments each day of the course.

You are responsible for making your own lodging and transportation arrangements. These costs are not included in the course fee. Lodging and transportation information can be found on each location page.

Every attendee has the opportunity to save on the course registration fee with the early registration discount. Save up to $200 on the course registration fee when you register and pay by the early registration deadline — 45 days before the course start date (the early registration deadline is listed on each course page).

U.S. federal government employees receive a 10% discount off the registration fee for all courses, and additional discounts are available to employees of of the Canada Department of National Defence and the Netherlands Defence Academy. We recommend that you register as soon as possible to secure your place in a course. You can save up to $200 on the course registration fee when you register and pay at least 45 days in advance for in-person courses and seven or more days in advance for online courses.

Registration is open until the first day of the course unless the course fills to capacity prior to that date, however, registration right before the course begins could delay your access to course materials. Popular courses do sometimes fill to capacity 1-2 months prior to the course.

Yes, as long as the course fee is of equal or lesser value. In fact, if you are unable to attend a course for which you have registered, we strongly recommend you transfer into another course scheduled at a later date. You can also request we hold on to your fee for you to transfer into another course within one year of the cancellation. Our short course participants are professionals working in the aerospace industry from around the world.

Students receive one CEU for every 10 hours of instructional time (i.e. a 21-hour-class is worth 2.1 CEUs) when they complete our short courses. CEUs are NOT college credit and cannot be used towards a degree.

We do not cancel courses often, but if we must cancel a course, we typically do so at least 3 weeks prior to the course start date.

In the event a course is canceled, the University of Kansas’ liability is limited to the registration fee. The University of Kansas will not be responsible for any losses incurred by the registrants, including, but not limited to, airline cancellation charges or hotel deposits. We reserve a limited number of hotel rooms in a room block for our students and instructors at the course venue hotel or a nearby hotel. We aim to provide the room block at a discounted rate whenever possible, to ensure it falls within the government per diem guidelines required by many of our students. In order to receive the discounted rate, you must reserve your room directly with the hotel by the deadline indicated on the event website. Please utilize the dedicated reservation link on the event page or follow the instructions provided to reserve a room in our KU room block. Those who make their reservations after the deadline or after all available rooms in the block are filled may not eligible to receive the Aerospace Short Course discount or associated amenities.

Meals are typically served buffet style with a variety of options so you can select food that is appropriate for your lifestyle. We request no pork products on our buffets. Please let us know at least 4 weeks in advance if you have specific dietary restrictions and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. However, fulfillment of dietary requests is dependent on the accommodations provided by the venue.

Most of our courses are offered once per calendar year. If a course is highly specialized, it may be offered only every other year.
